The Action Continues

Shinnecock Bay/Inlet/Ocean

The fluke bite remains to be grind in Shinnecock bay. There are keepers to be had but you need to move about the bay and use your skills to put a few in the box. The fluke have also been reported from the 90 foot area out beyond the Shinnecock reef. Squid/Spearing and gulp all working. Bluefish continue to please those who are just looking to bend a rod. The inlet and bridge areas have regular action on plugs, bucktails tins and spoons. The striped bass bite has been fairly good out on the bunker schools east and west of the inlet. Reports of fish to 50lbs have been caught and released in recent days. Lots of bluefish corralling the bunker too outside. Drifted live baits in the inlet have accounted for a few keeper bass. The areas around the Ponquogue bridge have seen a few more clam chummers this week with some success. The bite does not see the quantity of fish we've seen in years past but the mix of keeper sized fish has improved. Customer, Phil, had a 6 1/2lb fluke on Saturday in Shinnecock bay.

Peconic

The porgies continue to please those anglers who are looking for plenty of action and want to put some food on the table. The Jessup's Neck and Robins Island areas are holding porgies, bluefish, weakfish, blowfish and seabass. Have heard of a few fluke from areas east but not a lot of action. Clams and clam chum have accounted for most of the bites.

Shorebound

The Shinnecock Inlet's jetties have seen lots of bluefish action during the day and a few decent striped bass on the night tides on bucktails. A few fluke have also made there way to the jetty. The Ponquogue bridge has seen fluke, bluefish and striped bass as well. Over at the Shinnecock canal the fish seem to always be cooperating. The canal has bluefish, schoolie bass, fluke, blowfish and porgies. Great spot to take the kids.

Offshore

The bluefin tuna action out in the are of the Coimbra wreck has been nothing short of great. Trolling and jigging have both produced well. Get out early and beat the crowd you are sure to encounter.
