Shinnecock Bay: The bay seems to be holding some keeper fluke in the east cut and also by Rampasture point. Squid and spearing are doing the job just fine. The bluefish have been running around the bay as well falling to tins mostly. Ponquogue Bridge: Striped bass are being taken on the night tides in the shadow lines. With this week's warm weather, the bite has definitely improved. Striped bass are being caught in the back bays and creeks but there are a few along the ocean beach and inlets too.The striper's have been taking white 3/4 oz. bucktails as well as bone and chicken scratch swimming plugs. Porgies are over at Jessup's Neck taking clams and sandworms but you have to chum heavy for them. The Shinnecock canal is holding some nice size fluke (opens May 17) and some weakfish to 8 lb


Keeper Bass in Shinnecock
Due to the bad weather this week, there hasn't been much to report. However the few die hards that have been fishing are catching keeper bass, fluke, flounder and weakfish. Most were caught in the back bays but a few on the ocean beaches too. Joel got this beautiful 28" bass on Tuesday morning on a 3/4 oz bucktail. The Ponquogue bridge seems to be the biggest producer of keeper bass so far using 6" Chartreuse Gulp! jerk shads. Fluke seasons looks like it's going to shape up n

StartFragmentShinnecock and Peconic bays have both produced bass this past week with quite a few keepers in the mix. Quogue canal, Heady Creek and the Ponquogue bridge in Shinnecock and around Cow Neck in the Peconics. Soft plastics are accounting for a lot of shorts. Best fish have come on bunker heads.
