Fishing Report 5-23-21 Shinnecock & Peconic Bays
Shinnecock bay/Inlet/Ocean Reports of big bluefish continue to come in daily, the inlet has been crazy on diamond jigs. Top water plugs have seen action as well. The striped bass bite remains slower with schoolies accounting for most of the action. Most fish have fallen for bucktails and rubber baits. Peconic Bay is Full of Life
The action has been good in the Shinnecock canal with a good amount of fluke of mixed sizes with some keepers as well. They are falling for the regular squid, spearing and gulp. The weakfish have all but moved out to the Peconics with the big bluefish on their tails. Some bluefish have been in the inlet and taking spoons. Great week with both air and water temperatures rising enough to kick our season into gear. The Shinnecock canal has been very productive with schoolie bass, weakfish, bluefish and fluke which opens the 4th. Best bet on the weakies, bass and blues is to be there when the locks are just closing or just opened. Slow moving current is better. Rubber bait on leadheads doing the job.
