

It's Starting
Things are starting off well with a lot of buzz and traffic in the shop. We are fully stocked with all your baits and back to our seven day schedule. Peconics The Peconics are where it usually starts each season. The first weakfish have been caught up near the Peconic River as well as in the small inlets further east. There's Hope
Yesterday (4/19) I saw a winter flounder come into the shop. It was only 1 1/2 lbs, but at least the seals haven't gotten them all. On the striper front; there have been a few of them on the ocean beaches to the east and west of Shinnecock inlet on bucktails in the dark. No keepers yet, but i have heard that Jamaica Bay is loaded with them and some blue's too. As far as fluke goes, these are the proposed regulations: 19-inch minimum fish size, four fish per person Open season


Stripers Opens Tomorrow
The season is upon us. Striped bass can again be a staple on your table or your camera (the latter would be better). The reports are trickling in that there have been a few caught at Smith's Point bridge along with some blues mixed in. Jamica Bay seems to be holding a good number of fish. As of late the local reports are zilch. A few guys have been trying the local early spots to no avail. On a good note, I did hear of a few winter flounder caught in the Quogue canal a couple
