Shinnecock & Peconic Fishing Report 7-31-22
Shinnecock Bay/Inlet/Ocean The fluke bite in the bay has been very inconsistent but most recently we are hearing of a good bite in the eastern bay. The western bay has some fish as well but east was better. Spearing, squid and gulp baits all working. The Shinnecock inlet has a few striped bass on drifted live baits and a few bass at the bridge as well. Triggerfish are hanging in the structure in the inlet and around the buoy chains. Shinnecock Bay/Inlet/Ocean The fluke bite in Shinnecock has slowed to a grind. There are fish to be had but you will need to work for them. Western Shinnecock seems to be holding a few good fish while the eastern bay is also holding some fish but also a good amount of robins. Both tides are working, just need to move around a lot. I personally had my limit this week with a 24" to make the day. Both eastern and western parts of the bay are producing but as usual wind and tide together are key. The regular baits of squid, spearing and gulp all working but the spearing seemed to have the edge. Have had reports of a few fluke in the ocean out near the
