Fish Everywhere
Shinnecock Bay: Fluke is best on the west side of the bridge; but the east cut and the basket area seem to be picking up. Small bucktails tipped with spearing is all you need. Stripers are being caught in and around the Ponquogue bridge; heavy clam chum with whole clams on the hook will bring in the cows.
Peconic Bay: Porgies are all around Shelter island, Rodgers Rock, And Jessups Neck. Small pieces of clam or sand worms is the ticket here. The south ferry channel is holding some large stripers. Guys trolling Mojo rigs or umbrellas have reported fish to 30 pounds. Weakfish are in the holes around Roses Grove.
Shinnecock Inlet: The night tides is best for the big stripers. Trolling wire with spoons or umbrella rigs is your best bet. From the rocks; throw white 3 oz. bucktails tipped with red Ottertails or Jig Strips. Blues are all over here during the day; some if you want to bend a rod; come on down.
Ocean and Beaches: The beaches to the east and west of Shinnecock inlet are holding some stripers and blues. Mostly short stripers but the occasional keepers are mixing in. The fluke are starting to show up in the ocean, around 90 to 100 feet of water is a good place to start.
Shinnecock Canal: There is a nice mixed bag in here. Fluke, porgy, blowfish, sea-robin, blues, and even the stray striped bass are all showing.
