Fishing Report 10/20/16

Shinnecock Inlet: Stripers are being caught at night drifting spot or eels. The rocks on the west jetty are holding some keeper size blackfish.

Ponquogue Bridge: Seems to be holding a lot of bait; shad, herring, and mullet; but the striped bass have moved on.

Shinnecock Canal: Still catching seabass and porgies at the north end from the rocks.

Peconics: Still plenty of fish in the rips and under the bunker. Both blues and bass on the night tides. Most reports are coming from guys fishing the shores.

North Fork LI Sound: Good reports from the shore bound guys here too. Bass and blues in the sound along with plenty of albies.

Ocean Beaches: The western beaches closer to Moriches inlet have reported monster bluefish up to 18 lbs. The eastern beaches have had bass all in the 18" to 27" class; but there are keepers mixed in. A few bass along the beaches west of the inlet. Most fish have been taking swimming plugs.

Ocean: The reef and wrecks out front are holding good numbers of blackfish, seabass and porgies along with some cod and ling, a nice mixed bag to take home. Trolling wire around the bunker schools should produce bass if the blues don't get there first.
