Settling In

As the summer moves in; the fish are settle into their normal haunts. The fluke bite is best on the western side of Shinnecock; from Rampasture point to buoy 9. Light tackle, 3/4 oz bucktails tipped with squid or Gulp makes for some great action.

Striped bass are moving in at the Ponquogue bridge and the Shinnecock inlet. Night tides are best, but they are being caught during the days too. Clam chum heavy at the bridge to bring out those cows. Also the south ferry channel at Shelter island is holding some nice bass; Mojo rigs has been the ticket over here.

The porgy bite is starting to heat up in the Shinnecock canal. Sandworms and clam is all you need here. The Peconics, Rodgers rock, and Jessups Neck has a good bite on them too. Just bring some clam chum to get them around the boat and you'll have non-stop action.

Giant bluefish and in the surf and have also been spotted fining in schools in both Shinnecock and Peconic bays. Throw a top water popper near them and hold on.

Tight lines!
